Whats the best way to advertise on my website?

Whats the best way to advertise on my website? my website is about sexual health and i want to advertise on it.
my previous websites i never advertised on so im new to this.
i dont have much interest in google adsense, the text ads would not look very good on my site. i would like to advertise with the more graphic banner style type ads (the ones on the side and up the top)

how can i do this?
(sorry i sound like an idiot but im new to ads)

Test test and test. There may not be a best way. Links to other sites that will do the same for your site is a good way to connect with others and will boost your ranking on search engines, and cheap.
