Advertising question? Do you think advertisements have a strong affect on the cereal kids eat??

The toys inside the box!

When I was a kid, I would actually scan the isle and see which cereal had the best toy inside. Most of the time, it was a cereal I liked anyways. Then I would try to get the toy out from the bottom of the cereal while the box was still full. lol 0% 0 Votes

Absolutely!
We have a 5-year-old son, and he requests by name the cereals that are advertised on tv (especially those on Nickelodeon!)! It%26#039;s all about Captain Crunch, Captain Crunch Pirate Shapes, and the new Cereal Straws (Froot Loops flavor) at our house right now.

I%26#039;ve noticed he%26#039;ll try some of our other cereals or instant oatmeal, maybe once or twice (even Raisin Bran or Smart Start or Special K), but he really thinks the ones with the fun tv ads are the %26quot;cool%26quot; cereals. He eats those 95% of the time.

A distant second to the tv ads, what makes these cereals even MORE cool in a 5-year-old%26#039;s eyes?:
- bright colors
- small pieces
- fun shapes
- puzzles or games on the back of the box
- easily-recognizable characters on the box (and in the commercials)
