How does someone repair their credit?

How does someone repair their credit? I had one credit card at 18 that I unfortunately let go and now that Im 25 its still prohibiting me from obtaining credit. How is it that people go into debt by hundreds of thousands and my credit is shot over one $300 credit card??? How do I get my score back up to par...I know one option is to pay it off or set up a payment plan but are there other ways???

obtain all credit reports from all reporting agencies, call, write all reporting on report and try to settle with them with the stipulation that u and they will write a letter to credit bureau that payment is settled and u will received a copy of their letter also

The biggest part to credit repair is creating new positive items... you will probably need to start with a secured card.

I always think Duct tape is good for repairing things. But perhaps a good glue would do the job.
