Why is the cost of living so high in the USA? Is it worth it anymore? Also, tell me the stories when you used to go to the store for you mom and she%26#039;d give you a dollar for a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread......and you comeback with 30 cents....lol.

Relative to many other countries, the USA is not an overly costly place to live. Cost of living figures can be very misleading. The real metric, is what quality of life you gain, for the job you do. Comparing that to other countries, things are not so bad here. Comparing fuel costs with much of Europe, we are still paying bargain prices. Even the poor here look almost wealthy compared to developing counties and some Asian countries. They have food, health care, television, heated housing government checks. Even a median wage earner here can still afford a car, food, shelter, clothing and some limited luxuries. We are home to more rich people than any other country on earth. Contrary to the media, things just aren%26#039;t so bad here. There just not what they were a year or so ago.

As for cost increases over the years, they are to be expected. Baby boomers will be able to recall buying gas for 59 cents a gallon, but getting an hourly wage of $2.65.

I understand that compared to other countries this is still a good place to live. However, I have no refference to living somewhere else, so that%26#039;s useless to me. All I know is it%26#039;s getting more and more expensive to live here and we seem to be getting paid the bare minimum.
